Use Grades (From Report Card)

On the Report Card Builder screen System Calcs tab, when you select Use Grades (From Report Card) from the Select the Calculation Method drop-down list, students’ final grades are calculated using the grades that have been saved on report cards (teacher Report Card Entry screen) for all reporting periods included in the system calculation. The steps below outline the calculation process.

1.The student’s percentage grade from each reporting period is located in the Percent Range column on the Grading Scales screen and compared to the item in the Point Value column (in this example, the percentage 95 is worth 4 points, the 87 is worth 3.3, and so on).

2.The Point Value of each reporting period’s percentage grade from step 1 is multiplied by the weight assigned to the reporting period. (For this example: 4 x 2 = 8, 3.3 x 2 = 6.6, 2 x 1 = 2, 3.7 x 2 = 7.4, 3 x 2 = 6, 1.3 x 1 = 1.3.)

3.The weighted totals from step 2 are added together (for this example: 8 + 6.6 + 2 + 7.4 + 6 + 1.3 = 31.3).

4.The total from step 3 is divided by the total of the weights (for this example: 31.3/10 = 3.13).

5.The point value from step 4 is located in the Point Range column on the Grading Scales screen and compared to the item in the equivalent Mark column to determine the final letter grade (in this example, the point value 3.13 falls in the Point Range equivalent to the Mark of B).
